Early Concho Belt

Four exceptional concho belts from the cCollection of Jim and Jane Carpenter, Colorado.

From right to left:
Navajo concho belt with Cerrillos turquoise and alternating conchos and butterflies mounted on a wide belt of old leather. The 7 conchos and 6 butterflies measure 3 1/4" x 3 3/4" and 1 1/4" x 2 1/2", respectively. The buckle measures 3 1/4" x 3 3/4" and features 4 inset turquoise stones. The belt is 38 1/2" long overall. Circa 1920s with a great look, in excellent, wearable condition.

Early Second Phase Navajo concho belt, with 7 finely stamped, heavy conchos and buckle; backed with U.S. Cavalry saddle bag leather. Conchos measure 4 ¾” x 3 ½” each; buckle is 3 ¾” x 2 ¾”; belt is 38” overall. Circa 1900-1910. A fine old example.

Traditional Navajo concho belt with 7 diamond-slot, coin silver conchos in the old style. Each concho is 3 1/2" x 4 1/4", with a 3 x 4 ¼” buckle. Belt is 41 ½” overall. A classic early 20th century belt, circa 1910-1915.

Great turn-of-the-century Navajo concho belt with original leather. Adorned with 7 heavy conchos with pierced rims and leather backings. Scarce in coin silver. Conchos measure 4” x 3 ¼” each, and the classic style buckle is 2 ¾” x 3”. Circa 1900.
