Exceptional Winchester 1866 Musket

S/N 33478, 3rd Model, .44 RF, 27" barrel Winchester musket. Brass and blued iron finish, 24 inch magazine tube (17 cartridges), carbine style butt with trap, 17 inch forearm with 3 bands, brass frame and butt plate, circa 1869. Condition: excellent bright bore, 85% barrel and magazine tube blue, brass is smooth even mustard color, lever/loading gate/barrel bands average 50% blue fading, wood retains 75% original finish, excellent mechanically, excellent marks, staff on rear sight has been removed, some screws have been “mistreated”.

Muskets were the least manufactured model of the Model 1866, about 1 in 7. The largest numbers of muskets were shipped to overseas markets, and very few found today attain even a “fair” rating, unlike this exceptional example.
