Important "Wild Bunch" / Joe LeFors Posse Photos
Three (3) images of Marshal Joe LeFors and his posse, known as the Union Pacific Posse. Organized to give chase by E.H. Harriman, President of the Union Pacific for the robbery of the Union Pacific train August 29, 1900 near Tipton, Wyoming by outlaws Butch Cassidy, the Sundance Kid and the rest of the Wild Bunch. Photos by W.G. Walker, Cheyenne, Wyoming. 5" x 8" on 6 7/8" x 9 3/8" photographer’s card. No photographer’s mark, but known to be taken by Walker.
a) The posse with their horses before loading onto the train, Deputy U.S. Marshal LeFors at the far right.
b) The posse on horseback. Left to right, standing: Unidentified. Mounted: George Hiatt, Timothy Keliher, Joe LeFors, H. Davis, S. Funk, Thomas Jefferson Carr.
c) The well-armed posse standing in front of the train car. Most carrying Winchester 1895 rifles. This is an extremely scare image of the lawmen.
All framed together in a 10" x 31" frame.
These three rare and original photographs are in amazing condition as they were framed together in the period and have only recently been inspected out of the frame.
