A circa, middle of the 19th century Upper Missouri Metis or Cree long coat with dyed porcupine quills. Rosettes of quills on the back with wrapped drops. Fringe on the shoulders with quill wraps. Cut in the European military style and decorated overall with floral and vine quillwork in a curvilinear style some of which is worn and some missing. A wonderful fur trade era piece of outerwear popular in the mid-west to the Dakotas. 40" x 23"
