SANTA FE – The 2025 Annual Santa Fe Old West Event this year held June 21st and 22nd, will again give collectors access to the nation’s leading dealers in American Western Art and antiquities.
The Old West Show and Auction now in its 36th year has been the leader in showcasing the best of the west, and the best of traders of the west.
The auction held during the Old West show will offer American Art, Antiques and Arms along with Native American material. As one of the leaders in offering fine Western Art this year's sale will be offering works by Harry Jackson, Harvey Johnson, Nick Eggenhofer, Nick Firfires, Frank McCarthy, Will James, Frank Hoffman, Till Goodan, Harvey Fisk, John Hauser, Harry Baker Brown, Wayne Baize and many other notable artists. There will also be a grouping of Pulp art from the likes of Sam Cherry, Carl Hantman, Tom Lovell, and more.
Photography will include William Henry Jackson, Edward Weston, and L.A. Huffman.
Not all art is accomplished in oil or bronze; some is executed in leather, silver, and horsehair, and we are pleased to have silver and leather by Edward H. Bohlin, the Montana State Penitentiary, Miles City Saddlery, Jesus Tapia, G. S. Garcia, August Buermann, Visalia and other stellar makers.
The artistry of the Native American tribes will be represented. The Navajo artists will be shown in the textiles and jewelry, both contemporary and antique, the basketry of the Apache and the beadwork of the Northern Plains people, as well as Northwest Coast items. A wonderful pictorial vest, a beaded doctor’s bag, a stunning dentalium shell breastplate and earrings, and a beautiful Blackfoot headdress.
Of particular interest to Hollywood fans or anyone who grew up in the 50s is the Lone Ranger’s mask and Colt revolvers used by Clayton Moore in the famed TV series.
The cowboy collectors will be thrilled also with offerings, saddles by the best makers in the west, spurs and bits by the best craftsmen, and decorative arts for those into the Western lifestyle. Again, we offer highlights of the Ted & Danette McIntyre collection of August Buermann spurs, silver parade saddles from the George Pitman collection, and real cowboy material from the Ron & Linda Gillett lifelong collection. A group of amazing horsehair work from the early western states’ Penitentiaries. Edward H. Bohlin saddles, buckles, and accessories are well represented by a wonderful gold buckle by A. Kahn.
We will be featuring a large grouping of wonderful early western movie posters, some of the finest examples of the lithographer’s art. Great names in western film, Buck Jones, Hoot Gibson, Jack Hoxie, and John Wayne.
Firearms of the West will be represented by items such as a Sharps Buffalo rifle with scope, a Buffalo Soldier Colt 1860 revolver, a Henry rifle, Custer period weapons, and lawman items, guns, and badges, including a documented Texas Ranger badge. Something for anyone interested in the American frontier or the representation of it.
The shining star, of course, is the weekend shopping event, the finest dealers in this material at the weekend show. We bring in an amazing array of vendors from all over the country selling antique and modern, a place to meet collectors, enthusiasts, and sellers, and learn about the West and the items that were made famous by it.
