Scott Hardy TCA Marked Buckle on Ostrich Belt

Exquisite and fine 3-piece buckle set created by Scott Hardy for the 2006 TCAA (Traditional Cowboy Arts Association) Exhibition and Sale, the Organization’s annual pinnacle art event. The ostrich belt features 3 sets of engraved and diamond gold hinges. Marked with the TCA logo reserved for exhibition pieces, as well as numerous maker-marks. Three-color gold, with eleven 1/4-carat Canadian diamonds (overall). Buckle measures 2 5/8” in diameter. Belt measures 40 1/2" overall and fits a 30-33” waist. A stunning and beautiful presentation all around.

From the TCAA 2006 Exhibition & Sale Catalog: “This lady's three-piece and hinged set was created, in Scott Hardy's words, ‘to capture both the effortless elegance plus the underlying complication of the West.’ The fully filigreed and hand-engraved set has 18K yellow gold edge and flowers with five diamond pods. Flowing from the flowers are intertwining scrolls of 18K yellow, green and 14K red gold all set on the sterling silver buckle, keeper and tip."

An amazing 3-piece custom sterling and gold buckle set, mounted on a matching 3-section alligator belt that is joined by sterling and sapphire mounted swivels. The buckle set is intricately engraved with high-relief dragonfly and floral motif in sterling silver with 14K rose gold, 14K green gold, 18K & 22K yellow gold, and blue sapphires for the dragonfly eyes. The engraved silver mounted swivel connectors of the belt are the same high-relief floral carving, with inset lapis. The buckle is marked “No 56 / MURRAY BROS / MONTANA / .925 14K 18K 22K; the tip is marked “56 / MURRAY BROS / .925 18K 22K”; and the keeper is marked “56 / .925 22K”. The mounted connectors are each marked “MURRAY BROS” on one side, and “56 / .925 18K 22K” on the joining piece. The brown belt is wild American alligator by John Weinkauf of Kerrville, Texas. The belt is made to fit a 32" to 36" waist; the buckle is 3" x 3" with deep dome style. A truly exquisite and striking buckle and belt combination.

Dave has been a full time silversmith for 50 years. He makes one-of-a-kind pieces ranging from diamond jewelry to silver coffee pots, but three-piece buckle sets are his specialty. His work is in the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, and the Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles.
